Add Period Dialog Box

The Add Historical Period dialog box is where you create the periods comprising the client's historical statement.

Using This Dialog Box

  1. From the client's statement, right-click on a column head and select Add New Period. The Add Historical Period dialog box appears.

  2. Complete the fields within the dialog box (see section below).

  3. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Field Details

The following table provides information regarding the fields in the Add Historical Period dialog box.

Period Date

Click the calendar icon and choose the date representing the end of the first period from the drop-down calendar.

Period Length __ Months

Yes

Click in this field and type the number of months for the period. The maximum number of months allowed to be entered in a single period is 120.

Period Type

Yes

Choose Historical, Budgeted, or Currency from the drop-down list.  You can change this field later if necessary.

  • Historical: The data comes from prepared financial statements and represents the customer's actual performance. Historical is the default data type.

  • Currency: The spreadsheet figures are in a currency other than U.S. dollars.

  • Budgeted: The data is a projection of future figures.

Short Description

No

Enter a description to distinguish between the current period and others  with the same date, length, type, currency, and quality.

Currency

Yes

Select the currency to use for the period.

Quality

Yes

Choose the quality of the financial data from the values listed in the drop-down list as defined in the system-wide defaults.

Prior Period

Yes

This drop-down list of all periods that may be used as a prior for the current period. A default period is assigned by the system. The drop-down list is enabled when the Use System Defined Prior Period check box is cleared.

Preparer

No

Select the preparer for the first period. Your system administrator defined the options in this drop-down list. (If the preparer you need is not in the list, ask your administrator to add it to the list.)

Analyst

No

This drop-down list consists of all the active users set up in your security.

Period Status

No

To add a period status, click the Period Status button at the bottom of the screen. The Add Historical Period Status Comment dialog box appears.  In the Period Status field, choose a status best describing the period from the drop-down list of options as defined in the system-wide defaults. Then enter any status comments, and also check the External Comment check box if you want these comments to be shared outside  your organization.
