Users with administrator security rights manage security settings for your system. The security settings are applied globally across all user accounts. Administrators are also responsible for managing user access to your system. Access is defined for individual users.
Note: As a best practice, you are encouraged to add at least one backup administrator in case one administrator gets locked out of his or her account.
A user without administrator security rights will have access to perform the following tasks from the Setup menu:
Change his or her own password by selecting Setup > Change Password from the menu bar.
View user information for active and inactive users by selecting Setup > Security > Users from the menu bar.
Administrators are responsible for managing the following system security settings:
Criteria for locking a user account.
Password requirements.
Login requirements.
Administrators are also responsible for the following tasks:
Maintaining user account information.
Resetting user passwords.
Unlocking user accounts.
Activating/deactivating user accounts.
Adding and removing Administrator security rights.
Renewing subscriptions.
