Creating Cell Memos

Cell memos are useful for making detailed notes about a specific entry. The Cell Memo dialog box appears when you choose to add, edit, or view the memo associated with a cell in a historical statement. You also have the option to enter formulas for cells using the Cell Memo dialog box.

Note: The Cell Memo feature is not available for subtotal lines.

While in Edit mode, you can view, edit, add, or delete comments for any cell (period data for an account) by means of the Cell Memo feature. When a memo exists for a cell, the cell is highlighted in yellow.

To access the cell memo, follow these steps from the historical statement page:

  1. Right-click a data cell and choose Cell Memo from the menu that appears, which brings up the Cell Memo dialog box.

  2. You can enter data on this screen in the Memo Formula field, which will change the value in the spread. If you type a formula, for example (1+2+3), in the cell on the spread, the formula is automatically recorded in the memo and results in the cell.

  3. Add your own notes specific to the cell in the Memo field.

  4. If you want the cell memo to be shared externally, check the External Memo check box.

  5. Click OK.
